“I’m a 24 yr old hairstylist. I have a few clients that have done fitness comps and I always said I wanted to do a competition, but could never have the discipline. I told my friends “someday! Someday I will do it.” Two years had passed and I never even tried. My workouts at the gym consisted of 30 minutes on an elliptical and maybe a couple crunches 2-3 times a week. My diet was nothing great either. Beer and Mexican food three to four times a week and skipping most meals. I would rarely eat breakfast as well as eating awful things, like candy and nachos right before I went to bed. January of this year I was lying in bed looking thru a magazine with pictures of all the women I wished I could be. That night I called a friend I knew in the industry and said “hook me up, I am ready!!!” He gave me Sonya’s card. I looked her up online. Did a little Facebook stalking and knew she was perfect for me. We met a couple days later and I fell in love with this girl! I knew she could take me wherever I wanted to go and could keep me excited and motivated.
My goal was to compete in a NPC show sometime in my life. Just to say I have done it. This year I competed in the Mile High Max Muscle championships and place 2nd in my class!! I could not be more happy and excited!! I have never been in better shape. I feel so happy, healthy and confident, And I owe everything to Sonya. She really made this long time dream a possibility.
Sonya has taught me so much about nutrition and health. I have actually learned how to lift weights. And now I don’t feel so intimidated and awkward in the gym. More than anything I have learned to love and respect myself. I could feel my confidence building every time I met with Sonya. I never thought I could ever meet someone so selfless and giving. Sonya has always encouraged me and pushed me to be everything she knew I could! Even on those gym days when I just had no energy she listened to my body and me. If I was sick she would give me breaks to get healthy again. When I had personal issues she was a supportive ear to keep me focused and excited about my future…. Sonya was always available whenever I had questions. Even if they were silly she would always say, “No question is a stupid question.” She taught me so much about my diet. Breakfast is now my favorite meal. I love my egg white and oatmeal pancakes!!! I learned so much about Supplements. She taught me when to take what and why. I always swear that this girl is a genius because she knows exactly what to do just by looking at you. She could say no more almonds or eat two more rice cakes and know exactly what will happen. She is amazing!!!
I am so happy to have found Sonya. It’s so easy to work with her bubbly, enthusiastic, genuine personality. How many people could you skip thru a 24 Hour fitness gym with?! I truly believe Sonya and I have a long future together! I would follow her wherever and do whatever she asks of me. She not only is an unbelievable coach but a best friend. “Right now I am a 45 year old Grandma of 3. In January 2006 I weighed in at 175 pounds, and my doctor was putting me on medication for things I easily had the ability to control. I began with Weight Watchers as the program offered, to me, a diciplined and documented routine of learning how to eat and loose weight, by the book. I journaled everything in my food log daily. In September of 2006 I made my goal and reached 130 pounds. A 45 pound loss!! I began a regiment of exercise as well. 2007-2008 were maintenance years, journaling food slacked off and then I realized that my Weight Watchers program was failing me. Eat what I want, just count the points, is a hard thing to do when you have a eat whats in site problem. By March of 2009, being on my own, I weaseled myself back up to 150 pounds. It was time again to approach this with discipline, determination and a goal. This is when I was introduced to Sonya.
When we met, she told me the great part was that I already knew what to do, I was just off track. Discipline was as well lacking and Sonya came to understand how discipline, routine and a regiment is very important to me to succed in many areas of my life. Sonya put me on a easy diet program with foods that I really enjoyed eating. She had me learning how to eat again, away from the weight watchers plan of eating anything and going by a book. Sometimes you just cant eat what you want. I learned how (yes Sonya taught me how) to read a label, factor in a carb count and today counting calorie intakes on my own. We did not meet everyday or every week. At this time we met once a month for a workout and review. And let me tell you the only way for your trainer to know how to help you, is by helping them. I habitually journaled every bite of food I put in my mouth. I wanted to make this work for myself and for Sonya to give me her best. As time passed, my food
journals became more complex incorporating my workouts, calorie counts, carb counts and protein intakes.
But that did not stop her there with me, Sonya constantly e-mailed me asking for updates, making sure my diet did not burn me out or need to be tweaked. I dropped back down to 135 pounds by June of 2009. Workouts, well lets just say that on top of what she had me begin with, I incorporated Red Rocks as part of my work out routine. I was the master of the amphitheater the early summer of 2009….till Sonya came up there and worked out with me. Oh my did that lil’ girl put me through the evils of the rock. But we kept it up meeting for several workouts, and today I can incorporate Sonya’s routines into a solid hour plus workout routine that makes me look and feel like a pro. Sonya as well incorporated my favorite DVD’s and work out room equipment into my regiment on those cant go out days. And made me feel comfortable in doing routines at home as well as outdoors.
Today, at the end of the year 2009 my weight fluctuates between 126 and 130. Ideal for me, it incorporates a healthy diet of food and exercise. I feel so good about myself, about what I am doing and I know that any goals that I set out for myself can be accomplished. I can play, chase, and enjoy life with my grandkids as they grow up, and enjoy a awesome quality of life with my husband. Sonya will continue to be a major part of my life, her direction and motivation keeps me on track, and watching her grow and knowing how she helps others, as well as myself, will always keep her in my heart!”

“2 years ago I moved to Colorado from Vermont after graduating College with my boyfriend. I had settled down and was trying to findmy new home here but was having job issues, bouncing around and trying to meet new friends. In that time I was trying to watch out for everything and everyone, but myself. I had gained weight and was not happy with what I was seeing in the mirror anymore. I decided it was time to get back in the gym and try to start eating right and get on the path to being healthier.
In March 2009 I went to my first bodybuilding show to support one of my friends who was trying out the bikini division of the NPC. Needless to say I absolutely fell in love with it!! I was quickly introduced to Sonya that summer when I had made the decision it was time to start training. I met Sonya at Armbrust Pro Gym one day while I was there training and instantly grew fond of her and knew one day I wanted to do what she had done in such a short period of time. She had become a huge inspiration to me. Being able to train with Sonya has already become a dream come true. I have made so many improvements in my physique from leaning out, gaining the self confidence I lacked and putting on muscle in all the right places! I have worked with Sonya on my diet, training, and posing/presentation. I feel so much better about myself and love when other people are noticing the same thing. Because of Sonya some of my friends now look up to me in ways I never thought possible.
Sonya has introduced me to products by OhYeah! and ISSResearch that I now live by! I have never doubted anything she has told me and I have stuck to her nutrition plans and I have seen the changes I want to every day! I recently placed 4th in my last show in April and have hopes of some day placing in the top 3. I like to set attainable goals to keep them within my reach and not overtrain or over exert myself to something I don’t know if i can do. I am not done training until I reach my ultimate goals someday. I would love to be a fitness model and compete in a national level show. Sonya has helped me in so many ways; I have another show coming up in a few weeks to hopefully qualify for a national show.
Sonya has helped me to become the person I never thought possible. I am now happy with what I see in the mirror and know I can accomplish anything I set my mind too. Nothing is too far out of reach and with her help I guidance I will reach my goals soon!!”
